WHY SHOULD YOU THINK ABOUT QUARTZ COUNTERTOPS FOR YOUR KITCHEN RENOVATION?

Over the last several years, granite has consistently led the way in kitchen countertop materials. Quartz countertops, on the other hand, are a newer and more popular contender. Kitchen and Bath Design News reports that “quartz is the most popular and fastest-growing kitchen countertop material. Granite, the second most popular countertop material, is declining in popularity.

Unlike granite countertops, which are made entirely of natural stone slabs, they are not entirely of quartz. Quartz countertops are typically composed of 95% ground natural quartz and 5% polymer resin, though these percentages can vary depending on the manufacturer. This is why they are also known as “engineered stone countertops.”

The look of the countertops is determined by how finely milled the quartz is. Finer quartz produces a smooth surface, whereas coarser quartz produces a flecked surface. Until recently, quartz would frequently attempt to imitate the desired look of granite. Many homeowners nowadays prefer the smooth, clean appearance of quartz countertops. This is especially true in modern kitchens.

The main benefit of quartz over granite is that it is non-porous, which means it does not need to be sealed. It is also more resistant to scratches and stains and can be easily cleaned with soap and water. Due to its ease of fabrication, quartz has even begun to appear in bathroom showers and kitchen backsplashes. One of the best things about quartz is that it comes in an infinite number of color options, including many that aren’t found in natural stone.

As an added bonus, quartz is becoming less expensive than in the past. This could be due to its growing popularity and the increasing number of manufacturers offering it. Quartz countertops are roughly the same price as granite countertops.

While quartz countertops have many benefits, there are a few drawbacks to this material. One minor disadvantage of quartz countertops is that they are not very heat resistant. Hot pads and trivets are essential for those who have quartz countertops in their kitchens. It is also strongly advised to hire a professional to install quartz countertops. Quartz countertops, after all, are extremely heavy.

It’s easy to see why quartz countertops are becoming increasingly popular in kitchen remodels. Due to its non-porous surface, competitive pricing, and long-term durability, quartz is a top contender for countertops.
